Why not travel to New Zealand and Argentina Aus?

It is clear that the Lions tour no pre-heating tri-nations against nations of origin equipment. So we have to be enough out of shape with France and Italy. Why not Argentina? toured in 1997. I sincerely believe that would be so competitive such as France and Italy more competitive. And as viewers prefer their brand of rugby. They do not get many cracks in the All Blacks and might just beat us. Is it to do with income television? I know this is all planned beforehand, but a tour of Los Pumas certainly made sense even before WRC-07.

Good question. I think have a great idea of TV revenue wrt. Although rugby is played with great passion and skill in Argentina, is in a very small fraction of the population in general. Argentina, revenue for televised sport are strongly committed to football and, behind that a little right, basketball. The basis for generate large television revenue simply does not exist in Argentina. Furthermore, there is a significant expatriate community in New Zealand ARG and AUS, and because SANZAR have resisted ARG, no traditional rivalry, so the TV argument is not strong enough there either. UAR does not have the resources (or experienced organizers or money) to organize effectively. Therefore, the overwhelming majority of its elite players to play overseas (FRA and ENG), and they have not really gone to penetrate monopoly SANZAR rugby big-time professional in the SC. This is a great shame, IMO, as I can find their rugby to be entertaining and clever (at least not in the front). Finally, I believe that all Argentine professionals who have been working hard through the entire season of NH will be waiting for the opportunity to return to home for a bit of a break. You can see the B & I Lions, perhaps the NZ Maori game if they leave, and then relax with one of the Tri Nations.
